Stoners, Accept Hemp Based Apparel In India.

Before getting to the gist of today’s article, as I’ve done a few times before, it is important to educate and create awareness as to why the industrial lobby (in the USA, where else, the root of all evil), in the pursuit of their chemical-driven cornucopia of dreams, sought to undermine the properties of hemp and cannabis, through a malicious campaign of misinformation ultimately resulting in the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, passed in the United States, finally leading to the “war on drugs”, in the 1980s, dragging countries like India along on a spurious bandwagon containing crooks and blockheads.

However, the reincarnation is underway.

The Indian textile industry is predominantly cotton based with almost 75 per cent of the spun yarn in the country being produced from cotton.

  • Cotton is the largest user of water among all agricultural commodities
  • It can take 2,700 liters to produce the cotton needed to make a single t-shirt
  • Cotton cultivation severely degrades soil quality. In the past 70 years, cotton production has depleted and degraded the soil in many areas
  • Cotton farming uses 25% of the world’s pesticides and consumes 7% of all fertilizers
  • Runoff of pesticides, fertilizers, and minerals from cotton fields contaminates rivers, lakes, wetlands, and underground aquifers
  • These pollutants affect biodiversity and have caused species extinction throughout the world

Its time to rethink your clothes.

I’ve always maintained that if you’re someone who is a marijuana enthusiast (especially in India) or even someone who has an iota of an inkling, about the state of our glorious planet undone by the phenomenon called fast fashion , your immediate task is to introspect the clothes you wear and buy. You may be someone who likes to dress as a non-conformist or choose something minimalist preferring class over casual. The point is, it doesn’t matter.

Hemp and Cannabis will shape the future of India, and clothing and apparel, will be the first. Its time to acknowledge, understand and share that Hemp > Cotton. All you marijuana enthusiasts out there (for the un-initiated, marijuana is classified into – hemp and cannabis, who differ in terms of their THC Content, the component that causes the ‘high’), need to share this and start wearing hemp based clothing, which will create a flourishing new economy and be sustainable at the same time.

Two key brands which sell hemp based apparel in India are:

  1. Bombay Hemp Company
  2. B.E Hemp

The crop, stigmatised for the past century by evil forces with their vested interests, will eventually return to its rightful position as the king and queen of all crops. Its only a matter of time.
